Benefits of Recycling Paper

  • Divert Material from Disposal: Keeping paper out of the waste system saves landfill space and reduces pollution through  avoided incineration.

  • Conservation of Natural Resources: Recycling paper reduces the amount of

trees cut down by substituting old paper in its place.

  • Save Energy: The process that supplies recycled materials to industries

uses less energy than supplying new materials (1).

  • Reduce the Amount of Greenhouse Gas Emissions: By reducing the amount of energy used by industries, recycling reduces greenhouse gas emissions that

may lead to global warming. Energy used in the industrial process and in

transportation involves burning fossil fuels like gasoline, diesel and coal.
